Justin was easily frustrated to the extent that he needed to live on his own with 24 hour staff support.

Then along came Brenda. Through the friendship that developed between Justin and Brenda, Justin has become a changed man.

By carefully matching Justin’s new flatmate, and with a planned support program by staff, Justin now shares his unit with two other residents and spends time with Brenda and her housemate, catching up over dinner and spending evenings watching TV.

HomeChoices is about transitions – for Justin, this is about making changes within his current accommodation setting to provide the right environment to reach his potential.

Justin can now communicate his emotions and interact with others, and requires less staff intervention. His proudest moment came the day he was signed off from case management - for the first time in 15 years.
