Wonthaggi Respite Facility

What is the service?

The Wonthaggi respite facility is a two bedroom, fully-staffed residence which operates on a part time basis.

Generally the service is open from 2pm Wednesday to 10am Monday.

Who can use the service?

The service is available to South Gippsland and Bass Coast Shire residents. It is available to people who live with a carer and have:

  • An intellectual, physical or sensory disability,
  • An acquired brain injury

How long can people stay?

Respite stays can range from a few days to several weeks. How long and how often people stay can be negotiated with the coordinator, depending on their needs.

What are the fees?

A fee is charged for overnight stays to cover food, utilities and a small service fee. For information about fees contact us.

What activities are provided?

The service is not only designed to give carers a break— we give the people who use it a positive and enjoyable experience. Activities can range from beach fishing to playing pool. The house is close to the centre of Wonthaggi, allowing easy access to leisure activities which are designed around the needs and wants of each individual.
