Supported Accommodation

supported accommodationIn all our residential settings, we encourage residents to take responsibility for their daily lives, and to make their own choices and plans for how they live.

Our network of over 30 houses across Victoria caters for people wanting to live in shared accommodation supported by staff. For many people with disabilities, this is their first experience of living away from their family home.

In some houses, 4 or 5 residents share the home with staff support. Each resident has their own bedroom and the right to privacy in their room. Other houses have been divided into units for smaller groups or individuals requiring less intensive support from staff.

No matter the setting, each service is set up to meet the residents’ needs. We encourage residents to take responsibility for their daily living and to make their own choices. In shared settings, residents meet regularly to make group decisions about their home.

Transitions to independent living

Some residents choose to develop their living skills, with the support of staff, while living in a shared setting. Their goal is to move to supported independent living when they are ready.
