Self Advocacy Project
People supported by HomeChoices can join in an exciting new program to empower them to “have their say.”
Our new Self-Advocacy Project will develop the skills of HomeChoices residents so they can learn to:
- have a greater say in how their services are run
- voice their opinions
- have greater independence and choice in how they live.
We will do this by providing training to people with disabilities and linking them with self advocacy support groups.
A Reference Group, comprising staff and people we support, has been set up to guide the work of the project, which is expected to commence in 2010.
Our thanks to State Trustees Australia for their generous support of this project.
