The Pakenham Respite facility is a purpose-built, fully-staffed residence and is available 364 days a year.

It is conveniently located close to the town centre for easy community access.

The house has:

  • five bedrooms (all with hoists)
  • two separate living areas
  • two bathrooms with disability access
  • An outdoor living area and BBQ
  • A fully equipped vehicle for transport to activities and appointments

Who can use the service?

The service is available to residents from Cardinia, Casey and surrounding areas who have a disability (including dual disability) and are living with a carer. It is available to:

  • Adults with intellectual disability
  • People with disabilities living with an ageing carer

How long can people stay?

Respite stays can range from a few days to several weeks. How long and how often people stay can be negotiated with the co-ordinator, depending on their needs.

What are the fees?

A fee is charged for overnight stays to cover food, utilities and a small service fee. For information about fees contact us.

What activities are provided?

The service is not only designed to give carers a break, we give the people who use it a positive and enjoyable experience. Activities can range from beach fishing and playing pool to learning independent living skills (cooking, budgeting etc). The house is close to Pakenham township, allowing easy access to leisure and community activities. Activities are designed around the needs and wants of each individual.
